You have an app. It’s been in the store for awhile. It hasn’t needed any updates or bug fixes. It just works and following the maxim “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” you leave it alone only to get a notification that the app will be removed from the store due to inactivity!

For large companies this is probably not a common occurrence, but for a small indie developer such as myself it’s a real thing. It means stepping away from a large app conversion project (more on that in a later post) and reopening the “withering” app, tending to it, making some update that you’re sure won’t add any unexpected side effects and then rebuilding and resubmitting the app and waiting for it to be approved.

Apps like plants apparently need constant watering (yes, I’m abusing this analogy)! Fortunately my “TL Travelers” app is still thriving and the approval process was pretty painless. If you don’t already know about this travel-themed card game app the latest version is available for both Android and iOS. And if you’d like to help tend to the app by leaving a review or comment (so it’s not “inactive”) please do so! Happy travels!

And now… I’m returning to the larger conversion project which I’ll detail in a future post.
